HELLENIC SLEEP RESEARCH SOCIETY
The Hellenic Society of Hypnology is the merger of the Hellenic Society of Sleep Research and the Hellenic Society of Sleep Disorders, two societies with a history of at least three decades in the field of sleep science and medicine. The Hellenic Sleep Research Society was founded in April 1996. It is a non profit organization aimed at advancing sleep research in Greece. It specifically aims at advancing research in:
- Phenomena related to sleep, at an experimental level
- Sleep in the broader context of the biosciences
- Sleep in the context of human physiology (neurophysiology, psychophysiology, respiratory physiology, physiology of vascular and other systems)
- Study of dreams
- Sleep in the context of psychology (relation to cognitive functions, psychological mechanisms, environmental influences etc)
- Sleep in the context of social sciences (sociology, anthropology, ethnology etc)
- Sleep disorders (insomnia, hypersomnia, sleep apnea syndromes, sleep walking, nightmares, etc.)
- Sleep in relation to physical illness
- Sleep in relation to psychiatric disorders
- Impact of drugs on sleep
- Impact of non-pharmacological intervention on sleep (ECT and other biological treatments, psychotherapies, etc)
THE MEMBERS
The members of the Hellenic Sleep Research Society are recognized scientists from a wide range of scientific fields related to sleep, with working experience in Greece as well as abroad, many of whom participate in long standing international collaborations.
